Two men visiting Alaska from out of state drowned on Lake Louise, near Glennallen, Friday, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
The men were fishing in a 14-foot rented boat when they went to restart the motor, said troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain.
"The boat was already in gear and moved forward," he said.
Both ended up in the water, DeSpain said.
The first man fell in, he said, but it's unclear whether the second man got in or fell in.
Another boat saw them and came by to help, but by the time the men were brought to shore it was too late, DeSpain said.
Dispatchers in the Mat-Su Borough got an initial report of the drownings just after noon, he said.
The men were not wearing life preservers when they fell in, though there were supplied in the boat.
Troopers are notifying next-of-kin.
