Alaska Baseball League (6/23)

Published: June 23, 2012

SATURDAY'S RESULTS

• Everett 9, Bucs 3

• Chinooks at Glacier Pilots, late

SUNDAY'S GAMES

• Miners at Bucs, 2 p.m., Mulcahy Stadium

• Everett at Oilers, 2 p.m., Seymour Park

• Midnight Suns at Goldpanners, 7 p.m., Growden Park

Worth noting

The Anchorage Bucs and Everett Merchants both had plenty of baserunners Saturday at sunny Mulcahy Stadium, but only Everett had a bunch that made it all the way home. The Merchants made the most of 13 hits and six walks to pick up a 9-3 non-league game over the Bucs, who had their chances thanks to 10 hits and five walks.

A two-out, two-run homer by the Bucs' Zach Mathieu tied the game 3-3 after six innings, but the Washington team erupted for five runs on five hits to take command in the seventh. The big hit was a two-run single by Aaron Gates.

Bo Fulkinga flourished with four hits, two RBIs and two runs, while Sean Yanuss, hitting in the No. 8 spot, drove in three runs with two hits for the Merchants.

The Glacier Pilots also played Saturday, but it was their solstice-week game, so it didn't start until 10 p.m.
