Destruction of house in fatal Galena fire slows investigation

Published: June 24, 2012

Troopers said it will be at least Monday before the two people killed Friday in an explosive Galena house fire are officially identified.

The general manager of local radio station KIYU, Terry Fair, and his wife, Kim, lived at the two-story home, and they have not been heard from since the fire, the station's news director said Saturday.

Deputy fire marshal Chris Grooms is investigating the fire, said trooper spokesman Tim DeSpain.

"He said there's almost nothing left of the residence," DeSpain said. "Trying to determine a cause is proving very difficult."

Autopsies will be conducted early this week to identify the victims, DeSpain said.

People saw smoke and flames then heard an explosion.
