KODIAK -- Coast Guard Communications Station Kodiak is getting a new commanding officer.

A change of command ceremony is scheduled for Friday, when Lt. Cmdr. Paul Salerno will take over from Cmdr. Peter Van Ness. The Coast Guard says Van Ness, who held the post for three years, will move to an assignment at agency headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Salerno, who attended basic training in 1984, has most recently been serving at the Electronic System Support Unit Boston.
