Alaska State Troopers say a 31-year-old Soldotna man is under arrest after he rolled his vehicle off the Parks Highway as he tried to flee from authorities.
Peter Dirks is charged with driving under the influence and failure to stop at peace officer's direction.
Troopers say they responded to multiple reports Saturday night of a southbound vehicle driven recklessly.
According to troopers, officers found the Subaru at Mile 62 and tried to pull it over, but it sped up to 80 mph, passed a semi-truck then swerved into oncoming traffic.
Troopers say the driver lost control of the wheel at Mile 51 and the vehicle veered off the road, rolling several times, then catching fire.
Troopers say Dirks was pulled uninjured from the vehicle, arrested and taken into custody.
