Greg Hobson of Anchorage will return from the World Series of Poker with more than a quarter-million dollars and one of the tournament's coveted bracelets that are awarded to tournament champions.
Hobson, 33, won the ante-only no-limit hold 'em title at the annual poker championships in Las Vegas. The game had a $1,500 buy-in and attracted 939 players.
Hobson pocketed $256,691 for the victory. He becomes what is believed to be the second Alaskan to win a World Series bracelet, which is considered the biggest prize in poker. Anchorage's Perry Green has won three bracelets.
