Heavy rain prompts flood watch for Interior rivers

Published: July 3, 2012

FAIRBANKS -- Heavy rain is causing water levels to rise in rivers in Alaska's Interior.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Nabesna, Chisana rivers and the upper portion of the Tanana River between Northway and the Robertson River through Wednesday afternoon.

The Weather Service says Salcha may see minor flooding in the next few days.

The rise in river levels is being caused by heavy rain in the past two days, and more is expected.
