Troopers conduct holiday enforcement patrol through weekend

Published: July 4, 2012

Alaska State Troopers are conducting their Fourth of July holiday enforcement patrols through the weekend.Troopers say they'll be out on roads responding to calls for service and enforcing traffic laws while wildlife troopers focus on people fishing and hunting.

Troopers say traffic is expected to be especially heavy on the Seward and Sterling highways because of multiple events on the Kenai Peninsula, such as the Mount Marathon race in Seward and the Girdwood Forest Fair.

Troopers say officers will be watching for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers.

The increased patrols will run through Sunday.
