Salcha man charged with weigh station assault

Published: July 4, 2012

FAIRBANKS -- A Salcha man who allegedly punched an Alaska State Trooper and threatened to crush a police car with a bulldozer has been arrested.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported 55-year-old Stephen Carol Adams is facing charges in connection with a commercial vehicle enforcement stop at the Fox weigh station last week.

Adams faces four misdemeanor counts, including assault, resisting arrest and failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer.

A criminal complaint says the bulldozer was taken out of service at the weigh station. But when two troopers arrived, Adams reportedly drove the bulldozer toward the trooper vehicle, stepped out of the cab and threatened to crush it if it did not move. Adams also is charged with resisting arrest.
