Anchorage man rescued after search near Nightmute

Published: July 6, 2012

BETHEL -- A search for a missing 27-year-old man near the Nelson Island village of Nightmute has ended with the man being rescued in fair condition.

KYUK says it wasn't unusual for Warren Jones to take long walks by himself outside of Nightmute. So when he was seen on a hill behind the village Monday, locals weren't immediately concerned.

A search was launched, however, when he didn't return the following day, and Alaska State Troopers also were contacted.

Jones was found Wednesday and transported back to Nightmute. A trooper dispatch report says Jones is an Anchorage resident.
