KOTZEBUE -- Alaska State Troopers say nine stranded boaters have been rescued near Kotzebue.

Troopers say no injuries were reported among the four adults and five children who were stranded on a sandbar about four miles from Kotzebue.

Troopers in Kotzebue were called about 6:15 p.m. Sunday by one of the adults, 38-year-old Agnes Brown of Kotzebue, who said the boaters could not get their craft free and they were getting cold.

According to troopers, a Kotzebue Fire Department airboat was sent to the boaters and brought them back to town.
