One person died in a cabin fire early Tuesday in Hope, according to Alaska State Troopers.
According to troopers, the cabin fire was reported just after 4 a.m. on Resurrection Creek Road in the small Turnagain Arm community south of Anchorage. The person who lived there was unaccounted for, and firefighters from Hope and Cooper Landing found a body inside, troopers said.
The person's identity is being withheld until confirmation from a medical examiner and notification of next of kin. The state Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause and circumstances of the fire, which did not initially appear suspicious, troopers said.
