With the Eagle River Bear Paw Festival under way this weekend, what better time to reacquaint yourself with Baloo -- the laid-back, chummy bruin from Kipling's "The Jungle Book"? The Alaska Fine Arts Academy is presenting a children's version adapted from the Disney cartoon based on the classic tale. Fans are invited to sing along with favorite tunes in a one-act production that's billed as "perfect for the whole family." Showtimes are 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through July 21. The Academy is at 12340 Old Glenn Highway, Suite 200.

Bloody wedding

The Metropolitan Opera's 2009 production of "Lucia di Lammermoor" returns for an encore on the big screen. Russian soprano Anna Netrebko stars as the jinxed, neurotic and groomiscidal Scottish bride in a top-drawer telling that casts Walter Scott's tale as a Victorian-era ghost story. Showtime is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at both Century and Regal multiplexes.
