JUNEAU -- Juneau police say an 18-year-old man and two minors have been arrested after a thrown rock injured a young boy.

The Juneau Empire says the three face charges of assault, criminal mischief, giving false information to law enforcement and underage consuming of alcohol.

Police say the three were arrested early Sunday after police received calls reporting rocks being thrown at vehicles.

A rock or debris struck a 6-year-old boy riding in a vehicle back seat, severely cutting his cheek. Police say the boy was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Police said officers found two juvenile boys and the 18-year-old hiding in bushes and one of them had rocks in his hands.

The three were released to their parents.

Police are recommending charges after contacting the District Attorney's office.
