Associated PressJuly 17, 2012

BETHEL -- A man faces 20 years in prison in the 2006 beating death of his girlfriend after entering into a plea agreement.

KYUK reports Carl Fox Jr. on Monday pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Agnes Evan of Napaskiak. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped first-degree murder and assault with a weapon charges.

He's likely to face a 20-year jail sentence when he's sentenced Jan. 8.

Authorities say Evan had multiple blunt-force injuries to the head, body and extremities.

Court documents say Fox and Evan had been in a relationship for about a year at the time of her death and lived in an apartment a few hundred yards from where her body was found.

Fox was arrested February 2010.
