Fairbanks man charged with shotgun assault

FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks man has been charged with assault for allegedly beating a woman and putting a loaded shotgun to her head.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that 39-year-old Cory Jackman called Alaska State Troopers on Friday to say a woman had taken his scooter without his permission.

Jackman later called troopers to say the woman had returned and he didn't need help.

But Fairbanks police called troopers a short time later to report Jackman had called them requesting the woman be removed from his home.

According to troopers, the woman said Jackman hit her, held the shotgun to her head and said he was going to kill her and then himself. A loaded shotgun with the safety off was found in the home.
