UPS donates nearly $7,000 to Anchorage soup kitchen

Published: July 19, 2012

An Anchorage soup kitchen has received nearly $7,000 from the United Parcel Service for new kitchen equipment.

Bean's Cafe says the $6,750 comes from the UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS.

Bean's spokesman Ken Miller says the money will be used to buy a commercial food slicer and a commercial tilt skillet. Miller says the day shelter serves about 800 meals daily at breakfast and lunch.
