Time to end Penn State football

July 19, 2012

It is said that there are three things of importance to a university: Tenure for the faculty; sex for the students; and a winning football team. But not necessarily in that order. As a former employee of one major state university, I had direct, personal knowledge of abuses in the football program, some of them criminal. The behavior of Penn State in the Sandusky matter is unforgiveable. An appropriate punishment for Penn State would be the immediate and permanent cancellation of its football program.
