Superb student jazz ensemble
The Alaska Jazz Workshop has been running some of the state's hottest young musicians through their scales this summer. At 7 p.m. Saturday, the advanced students will show you what they've learned with a program of blues, Latin, funk and straight-up jazz at the Organic Oasis, 2610 Spenard Road. Admission is $5 at the door, free for children age 12 and younger. More info at www.akjazzworkshop.org or at Alaska Jazz Workshop on Facebook.

'Eklutna Annie' and friends
"Stories at the Cemetery" -- live, interactive, alternative, all-Alaskan, site-based theater -- will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, between Ninth and Sixth avenues on Cordova Street. Actors will represent the departed at grave sites of famous, infamous and downright shocking Alaskans, including Anchorage's first fire chief, a crusty bush pilot and the Jane Doe better known as "Eklutna Annie," the first victim of serial killer Robert Hanson. Just show up and look for people in costumes. Admission is free, but donations will be collected to help pay for the performers. Show respect for the grounds and the graves.

Trivia in the news
The host of NPR's "Wait, Wait ... Don't Tell Me" news trivia quiz program will appear in person at Wendy Williamson Auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday. "An Evening with Carl Kasell" will include a magic show and an interview with Alaska Public Radio's Steve Heimel. One lucky audience member will get to have Kasell record a message for his or her voice mail. Tickets are $10 for KSKA/KAKM members and $15 for everyone else, available in advance at alaskapublic.org.
