Man accused of shooting at Fairbanks police car

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder, accused of shooting at a Fairbanks police car.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported Robert D. Carlson was taken into custody after the shooting early Sunday morning in the Birchwood Homes neighborhood.

Police said they received a call shortly before 4:30 a.m. from a woman reporting a man punched her multiple times outside a home on Nunivak Loop.

Police said the man reportedly went back inside and grabbed a gun.

According to police, Carlson fired numerous times from an upstairs window when police arrived and one bullet struck the patrol vehicle.

Police said Carlson came out and was arrested.
