Begich understands all about spending out-of-state dollars
Sen. Begich recently sent out a letter seeking contributions because he feels that "the entire national right wing attack machine" is out to recapture his seat and, "They'll be spending millions of Washington dollars" to distort his record and promote Joe Miller.
Sen. Begich knows what he is talking about. When he was elected in 2008, millions of out-of-state Washington Democrat dollars were spent to purchase his seat, so this is a concept we should trust that Sen. Begich truly understands. Evoking the name of Joe Miller to frighten voters is an affront to voter intelligence. When faced with the prospect of a possible Miller win in 2008, Alaskans came together, Republicans and Democrats alike, and effected a cure.
Sen. Begich, Joe Miller isn't your problem. However, underestimating Alaskans' memories should concern you. -- Maggie Spencer

Smearing woman's memory shows McLeod's true colors
In her July 19 letter to the editor, Andree McLeod once again proves her complete inability to debate facts on a face-to-face basis.
She says that the ADN ignores facts and she is entirely wrong. She says legislators are disingenuous and she is way off-base with her childish rants. Now she moves deep into the realm of berating a recently deceased and highly respected lady.
To intentionally smear the memory of any person who is deceased and unable to verbally defend themselves is the height of cowardly and despicable human behavior but that is exactly what McLeod did.
McLeod has a history of being unable to be elected to the political office she strives to selfishly obtain, and the election results are fully justified.
