JUNEAU -- Sunday is the deadline for Alaskans to register to vote in the Aug. 28 primary.
Sunday also is the deadline to update one's voter registration or to change political party affiliation for voting in the election.
Regional offices for the state Division of Elections, in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Mat-Su and Nome, will be open this weekend to help voters. The lieutenant governor's office says the regional offices will be open for voter registration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Voter registration applications also can be submitted by mail, fax or email.
Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai says changes made after Sunday, including any party affiliation changes, won't be effective for the primary.
