Matanuska River Takes Building in Sutton

Sonny Johnston tears down part of his house along the Matanuska River at Sutton on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. The river has taken a Quonset and a semi trailer and washed them down river. The Quonset was seen past Palmer and the trailer is mostly submerged just down river. Part of the building is tearing down was lost to the river. Johnston plans on using the salvaged wood for a garage he plans on building on property he has bought on the other side of the Glenn Highway.

The Matanuska River at Sutton just off the Glenn Highway swept away a quonset hut and a semi trailer and part of Sonny and Judy Johnston's home.
