Published: August 7, 2012

JUNEAU -- The body of a pilot and the wreckage of the small plane that crashed in the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska have been recovered.

KTOO-FM says Air Excursions pilot Kevin Murray of Chelan, Wash., was the only person on the plane when it crashed Thursday between Juneau and Gustavus, about 23 miles west of Juneau.

Alaska State Trooper Tim Birt says Juneau Mountain Rescue and Coastal Helicopters assisted with Saturday's recovery effort.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
