Fifteen contestants ages 11-29 from numerous countries in Africa competed in the first ever Miss Africa Alaska Pageant on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Northway Mall. The pageant hosted by Motherland in Me, Inc. was the first "all-African event" in the state bringing together a growing African community in Anchorage.
