Alaska transportation officials say the state has won four federal grants for scenic byways improvements.
Officials say the grants totaling more than $714,000 were awarded through the National Scenic Byways program of the U.S. Transportation Department.
Alaska's Scenic Byways program was established nearly two decades ago to recognize routes through some of the state's most beautiful scenery.
The new grants will go toward improvements of the Alaska Marine Highway System around Seldovia and the Glenn Highway around the Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge.
The other grants will go to the Haines Highway and to the Seward Highway for Iditarod National Historic Trailhead signs.
