Kenai eliminated in legion baseball

Kenai Post 20 was eliminated from the American Legion Northwest Regional in Billings, Mont., on Friday morning, when it lost 14-8 to the Billings Royals.

Kenai shortstop Jacob Darrow went 2 for 4 with a run scored and three RBIs. Left fielder Justin Wisnewski went 3 for 5, scored three runs and drove in two. And right fielder Brian Rowe went 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI.

The first three hitters in Billings' order drove in a combined nine runs, with second baseman Joseph Zimmer driving in four. Both teams stranded 12 runners.

Kenai dropped its Thursday opener in the double-elimination baseball tournament, 12-2, to Waipahu, Hawaii, in a game stopped by the mercy rule after eight innings.
