Laine Welch, in her regular commercial fishing column on Aug. 12, said Barrick Gold, a Canadian mining company, is a backer of the Chuitna coal project in Upper Cook Inlet and the company has given $135,000 to the campaign opposed to reinstating a coastal zone management program. Barrick did not give money to the campaign and is not backing the Chuitna project.
