FAIRBANKS -- North Pole police say a hit-and-run driver left something behind after striking a stop sign -- his license plate.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says police on Saturday tracked the license plate to an address, a driver and a damaged truck. Police say 18-year-old Thomas Kohl Farris told them he was coming home from a friend's house when he ran through the stop sign. He told police he had three beers before driving.
Police say he registered a breath-alcohol content of 0.165, more than the legal limit of 0.08.
Farris was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
