The U.S. Coast Guard has transferred to China a vessel suspected of illegal high seas driftnet fishing that was pursued by a cutter assigned to Alaska. Coast Guard officials say the 177-foot Da Cheng seized 850 miles east of Tokyo last week was turned over Tuesday to the China Fishery Law Enforcement Command. The Hawaii-based Coast Guard cutter Rush escorted the stateless vessel.
