Eagle River bowler Ron Mohr racked his eighth career PBA Senior Tour victory when he captured the season- ending Decatur Open in Illinois on Tuesday.

Mohr's first win this season tied him for eighth place in all-time wins, earned him $7,500 and gave him winnings of $19,900 in the nine tournaments this season.

Mohr in 2011 won four tournaments and won the Player of the Year award for the second time -- he also seized it in 2009.

Tuesday, Mohr rolled Harry Sullins of Chesterfield Township, Mich., 243-181, in the championship match.

He got to the final by topping Michael Henry, 222-175, in the semifinals; sweeping Darryl Bower in the best-of-3, Round of 8; and sweeping Mike Mineman in the best-of-5, Round of 16.

Mohr's previous best finish on Tour this season was runner-up at the Senior Dayton Open.

Mohr's string of six consecutive strikes from the fifth frame on furnished the difference after both bowlers struggled early in the final.

"When you're given the opportunity, you have to take advantage of it,'' Mohr said in a Senior Tour press release. "I could see he was struggling and I knew if I could just put a few good shots together I could win it.''
