PALMER -- Rates are going up for customers of the Matanuska Electric Association. The board of directors has approved a nearly 2 percent increase in base rates.
The utility in a release says for an average customer using just above 700 kilowatts a month, that will increase the bill by about $1.44.
The new rates will go into effect in October if the Regulatory Commission of Alaska gives the go-ahead.
