Giants in Spenard
Local jazz all-stars assembled by saxophonist Rick Zelinsky have lovingly revisited the music of giants like John Coltrane, Sonny Robbins, Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan and Cannonball Adderly every other month for the past year or more. With a little help from fans, they've made up their own "best of" list from the Tribute to the Masters of Jazz series and will present that at 8 p.m. Thursday at Tap Root, 3300 Spenard Road. Admission is $10. Get there early for a seat right in front of the band -- and shut off the cellphones.
