Smith and Smith win orienteering meet

Cory Smith blitzed the long course to win the men's division and Linda Smith won the women's division Friday in Mike & Ruth's sprint orienteering meet on the UAA campus. Cory Smith needed just 22 minutes, 33 seconds to cover the 3.6 kilometers, which featured 20 controls. Linda Smith clocked 42:34.

Mike & Ruth's Sprint Orienteering

Short Course (1.6 km, 12 controls)

Team -- 1) Hatcher, Talia and Springer, 43:30.

Long Course (3.6 km, 20 controls)

Women -- 1) Linda Smith, 42:34; 2) Lindsey Klueber, 46:28; 3) Dela Grey, 47:10.

Men -- 1) Cory Smith, 22:33; 2) Trond Jensen, 30:05; 3) Regan Sarwas, 30:08; 4) Steve Gruhn, 33:23; 5) Ivan Hodes, 55:26.

Team -- 1) Kathy and Joyce, 46:44; 2) Teresa and Jessie, 48:28; Lori Sivitz, Erin Sivitz and Ariel Virgen 55:18.

Relay (2.7 Km, 16 controls x 2)

1) Ian Moore and Jen Jolliff, 36:26; 2) Art Harmon and Jeremy Crawford, 47:00; 3) Steve Gruhn and Ellyn Brown, 47:59; 4) Tom Bronga and Karen Bronga, 51:50; 5) Brittany Hippe and Ariel Hippe, 56:53; 6) Stephanie Kesler and Regan Sarwas, 61:57; 7) Anne Billman and Dan Billman, 65:02; 8) Sam, Wendy, Jen and Linnea, 1:46:40.
