FAIRBANKS -- A North Pole man has been charged with kidnapping and assault.
Alaska State Troopers say a witness reported seeing a man chasing a woman and dragging her into a cabin on Friday evening. Troopers responded, and when no one answered the door to the cabin, they forced it open.
According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, troopers say they found 32-year-old Jason Lee Hannah inside with his girlfriend, who was in a fetal position and with a bloodied face. She told troopers Hannah had choked her and held a sledgehammer over her head and threatened to kill her if she didn't stop crying.
Troopers say Hannah acknowledged dragging his girlfriend into the cabin but denied hitting her.
He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
