Anchorage firefighters extinguished a blaze at a storage unit this morning in an industrial area northeast of downtown.
The fire near East Ship Creek and Warehouse avenues caused a closure of the Alaska Railroad nearby, a 911 dispatch supervisor said. A dozen fire department vehicles responded to a report of light smoke about 10:20, she said.
Workers in the area reportedly said a pallet somehow caught fire, and the flames spread.
The dispatcher said crews were mopping up about 30 minutes after the initial report.
