Soldiers at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson -- and some nearby Anchorage residents -- are getting an earlier wake-up call.
Starting Monday, the old military song Reveille will be played at 6:30 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.
Military officials say in a release the change will synchronize playing of the song across the base, and ensure that physical training for soldiers starts sharply at 6:30 a.m.
When the song is played, it can be heard from the loudspeakers in neighborhoods adjoining the base, and even in downtown Anchorage.
