JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON -- Soldiers at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson -- and some nearby Anchorage residents -- are getting an earlier wake-up call.
Starting Monday, the old military song "Reveille" will be played at 6:30 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.
Military officials say the change will synchronize playing of the song across the base and ensure that physical training for soldiers starts sharply at 6:30 a.m.
When the call is played, it can be heard from the loudspeakers in neighborhoods adjoining the base and even in downtown Anchorage.
