Fairbanks man charged with stealing heavy equipment

Published: August 31, 2012

FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks man accused of stealing heavy equipment was found sleeping inside a loader and arrested.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says 27-year-old Jason Alan Kornack is charged with stealing heavy equipment from a construction site. Contractor Alaska Line Builders reported the thefts of the John Deere skid-steer and the loader early Monday.

That same morning troopers received a report that the missing loader was parked between some trees on a power line trail.

Alaska State Troopers say Kornack was found inside the loader. Troopers say he admitted starting the loader with a pair of scissors. He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
