Ostrander, Knotek set pace in Seward XC-running meet

Seward's Miles Knotek and Kenai's Allie Ostrander took the individual titles and Grace Christian swept the team titles Friday at the Frank Dieckgraeff Invitational cross country meet in Seward.

Knotek beat teammate Matthew Moore by 12 seconds to win the boys 5-kilometer race, clocking a time of 17 minutes, 17 seconds.

Ostrander won the girls race by 90 seconds in 18:11, a time that would have placed her 14th in the 59-runner boys race.

Grace Christian's girls team placed five runners in the top nine, with Cheyenne Applegate leading the way in fifth place as the Grizzlies beat runnerup Wasilla 35-62. The boys got a third-place finish from Daniel Servanti and a fifth-place showing from Ivan Isaacs in a narrow 45-50 win over Kenai.
