West edges Bartlett 6-0 in flag football

Annie Rush's 17-yard touchdown pass to Maya McPherson was all West needed Friday to get past Bartlett 6-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football team at Anchorage Football Stadium.

Rush finished with 116 yards on 11 of 25 passing for the Eagles, who improved to 4-1. Shiccia Harris was on the receiving end of five of those passes, worth a total of 40 yards.

Anna Sophia Roberts anchored the ground game with 51 yards on 10 carries, while Mimi Troxel's eight pulls led a defense that held Bartlett in check.

Chugiak 21, South 12

With the clock running out, Holly Brehmer busted loose for a 73-yard touchdown run to seal Chugiak's 21-12 CIC flag football win over South in a CIC game Friday at Chugiak.

The Mustangs struck on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead on an 18-yard pass from Ashlee Sitz to Hannah Puterbaugh. South made it 7-6 in the third quarter but Sitz fired a one-yard scoring strike to Carly Metcalf and the Mustangs defense scored a safety to make it 15-6.

South narrowed the gap to 15-12 with a touchdown in the final two minutes. On the final play of the game, Brehmer charged up the middle for her touchdown.
