KODIAK -- A 26-year-old Kodiak man is accused of breaking a local liquor store window with a newspaper stand and assaulting a harbor officer.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror says Ryan Lucas faces charges of criminal mischief and assault.

Authorities say the incident took place early Tuesday morning when the harbor officer saw Lucas throw an Anchorage Daily News stand twice at the Safeway liquor store window.

According to authorities, the officer told Lucas to stop and Lucas ran to a Saint Paul Harbor float. Authorities say the officer followed Lucas and Lucas punched him twice in the head.

The incident was the second in a month in which a newspaper stand has been thrown through the window of a local business. There is no suspect in the July 30 breakage.
