Bethel officials intercept illegal alcohol

Published: September 6, 2012

BETHEL -- Authorities in Bethel have seized 19 bottles of whiskey they say would have been illegally sold.

KYUK reports the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team found 12 bottles of whiskey during the search of a boat owned by an Aniak resident.

Officials say a Bethel resident was identified as the seller. That person was searched, and seven more whiskey bottles were found in an automobile.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials anticipate charges will be filed.
