KODIAK -- A man from Texas who was found face-down in the water on a beach during a fishing outing on Kodiak Island has died.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror says 73-year-old Emilian Foltyn's death is being investigated as a possible drowning.

Foltyn, who was from Jarrell, was found Wednesday at White Sands Beach. He was taken by ambulance to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center around 5 p.m. and was pronounced dead about a half hour later.

Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death as a possible drowning.

Foltyn traveled to Kodiak on vacation and was fishing on the beach north of the city with friends when he wandered around the corner. Bayside Fire Chief Bob Himes says Foltyn walked out of sight and was found face-down in the water.
