The Dimond Lynx avoided homecoming heartbreak Friday by rallying past Bartlett 14-13 in a flag football game between the teams at the top and the bottom of the Cook Inlet Conference standings.
The Lynx ran their record to 7-0 by scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns on Homecoming Night at Dimond Alumni Field. Tara Thompson threw both of the touchdown passes and then cemented the win on defense by intercepting Bartlett's quarterback on the final play of the game.
The Golden Bears (1-6) led 13-0 after three quarters. Dimond's comeback started with a 71-yard pass from Thompson to Vanessa Tufago, who ran about 50 yards on the play. Haley Martin got the ball back for Dimond with an interception and Thompson took advantage by hitting Kalie Suellentrop with a five-yard pass.
Martin finished with six pulls and Gabby Coleman added eight to lead Dimond's defense.
