Eagle River 3, West 2 in volleyball

Eagle River won the final two sets to pull off a dramatic five-set win over West in Cook Inlet Conference volleyball action Friday at West.

The Wolves relied on strong, steady defense to post the 25-23, 7-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-10 victory.

Tess Anderson pounded 15 kills, Elexa Walker put up 30 assists and Lucy Thomas had 18 digs for the winners. For West, Nicole Meyers had 36 assists, Jen Evans added 29, Rita Dexter tallied 12 kills and Nya Carter had eight kills.

South 3, Chugiak 0

Mikayla Sweet's 19 kills and Christa Leader's 22 digs sparked South's road sweep of Chugiak in a CIC volleyball match Friday. Morgon Hooe handed out 34 assists for the defending state champions.

Kara Haeussler provided Chugiak with six kills and 10 digs, Shaelyn Zeulhdorff had three kills and two blocks and Rachel Gregg tallied 12 digs.
