Police seek man whose injured girlfriend was left at hospital

Published: September 8, 2012

Anchorage police are looking for a man after someone dropped off his severely injured girlfriend at a hospital Friday night.

The woman was left at a hospital emergency room with serious injuries, and it's unclear who drove her there, said police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker. Investigators now want to talk to her boyfriend, 47-year-old Joseph Mark Gray, as they piece together how the woman was hurt.

"They don't know exactly what happened to her," Parker said. "She was dropped off at the hospital with severe injuries, and whoever dropped her off didn't stick around."

Parker would not say if police suspect Gray assaulted his girlfriend, who was not named, or if he is the person who took her to the hospital.

Court records show Gray pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault charges in January and July of 2011, as well as felony assault charges in November 2011 and again in April of 2012.

Police say Gray stands 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair. Parker said anyone with information on Gray's whereabouts should call police at 786-8900.
