This letter is in response to the negative comments ADN readers are expressing regarding Chugach Electric and how they have "handled" the storm outages. I would like to provide a glimpse into the other side of the story.
First, Chugach didn't take their phones off the hook, as one reader suggested. They were flooded with calls and publicly asked people to please keep calling.
Second, my husband is one of the hundreds of employees who have been working 15-hour shifts day and night to restore power. Even when he and others are released to go home to get some sleep (often in their own cold and dark homes), they stay and help for a few more hours because they know they are needed.
Third, this storm was of epic proportions and caused extreme damage that required many hours/days to repair. Perhaps in the future, one might be less tempted to complain and more inclined to say thank you.
