'Naptime' makes show

Published: September 14, 2012

Nic "Naptime" Herron-Webb is in the house.

The 22-year-old Anchorage man survived the first cut in the FX mixed martial arts reality show "The Ultimate Fighter," a victory that means he's one of 16 welterweights living together in a Las Vegas home while competing for a six-figure, multi-fight UFC contract.

In Friday night's taped premier, Herron-Webb applied an armbar to beat Tim Ruberg, a 30-year-old from Harrison, Ohio, by submission.

The show will air Friday nights at FX, with one fighter being eliminated each episode. The finale is Saturday, Dec. 15, when the last two fighters meet for the championship and the UFC contract.
