Kodiak man accused for second time of abuse of forklift

KODIAK -- Two men have been accused of damaging a Larsen Bay cannery. For one of them, it's the second run-in with authorities over misuse of a forklift he doesn't own.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror reports Pete Muller Jr. and Derick Hochmuth, both 19, face burglary and criminal mischief charges in an alleged break-in at the Icicle Seafoods cannery last week.

Alaska State Troopers say the men broke into the cannery but couldn't get back out, so they used a forklift to break through a wall. The company says there was about $20,000 damage.

Last month, Muller pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and vehicle theft for using a city-owned forklift in Ouzinkie to pull a truck out of a ditch.
